NFL Week 6 will feature exciting rivalry games, including the New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football and the Cincinnati Bengals vs. Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday afternoon. Here are your announcer pairings for the upcoming slate of games.
Heading into NFL Week 6, there are just two undefeated teams left, and both of them are led by young quarterbacks who are front-runners for the MVP award early on. Jared Goff has led the Los Angeles Rams to an electric start, but he could be tested this week against the Denver Broncos if Cooper Kupp and Brandin Cooks are unavailable due to brain injuries. Meanwhile, Patrick Mahomes will be tested against the New England Patriots, who have bounced back strongly after losses to the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Detroit Lions.
There are several enticing games coming up this week, and the announce team calling the game can influence your decision on which game to watch. Someone like Tony Romo can add a great deal to a broadcast, whereas an announcer like Jeff Fisher will just put you to sleep.
Here’s a complete list of announce pairings for Sunday’s games on CBS and FOX.
CBS
Early Games
Cincinnati Bengals vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Ian Eagle, Dan Fouts
New York Jets vs. Indianapolis Colts Greg Gumble, Trent Green, Bruce Arians
Cleveland Browns vs. Los Angeles Chargers Spero Dedes, Adam Archuleta
Houston Texans vs. Buffalo Bills Andrew Catalon, James Lofton
It will be intriguing to hear Green’s and Arians’s thoughts on the two quarterbacks in the Jets vs. Colts game. There’s a lot to like about rookie quarterback Sam Darnold, and Andrew Luck has looked sharp despite playing with an underwhelming group of pass-catchers, especially now that T.Y. Hilton is suffering from an injury. Arians’s insight on Luck will be especially noteworthy.
Late Games
Dallas Cowboys vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Jim Nantz, Tony Romo
Tennessee Titans vs. Baltimore Ravens Kevin Harlan, Rich Gannon
Listening to Tony Romo analyze Dak Prescott and Blake Bortles, who are two of the most up-and-down quarterbacks in the NFL, will be a treat. Romo’s insight on the Cowboys offense and Jaguars defense will be well-worth listening to, and if this game ends up being competitive, then that would be ideal. However, it’s hard to expect the Cowboys pass-catchers to make any sort of a dent against a hungry Jags defense.
FOX
Oakland Raiders vs. Seattle Seahawks (London)Â Chris Myers, Daryl Johnston
Atlanta Falcons vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Thom Brennaman, Chris Spielman
Minnesota Vikings vs. Arizona Cardinals Sam Rosen, Ronde Barber
Washington Redskins vs. Carolina Panthers Kenny Albert, Charles Davis
Miami Dolphins vs. Chicago Bears Brian Custer, Greg Jennings
Denver Broncos vs. Los Angeles Rams (Late) Dick Stockton, Mark Schlereth
The London game looks intriguing, as the Oakland Raiders are reeling and in desperate need of a win that wasn’t gifted to them by the officials. Seattle has found a running game in the duo of Chris Carson and Mike Davis, and they could give Oakland’s shoddy defense some serious trouble.
Meanwhile, the Rams vs. Broncos could be exciting if Denver’s defense is able to make things interesting. That may depend on the health of L.A.’s wide receivers. Denver’s offense stands no chance against the Rams defense, unless they can start feeding Royce Freeman and coax production out of the talented youngster at running back. Seattle made things interesting against Los Angeles last week by running the football effectively.
Listening to Schlereth give his insight on the Broncos will only add to the potential for this game to entertain.
