Welcome to Week 6 of the NFL season and our Optimal cash game plays for NFL FantasyDraft.  This week there are only 4 games with projected scores over 50 points and we will want to focus on these games specifically when building our rosters this week.  I am mainly focusing on two games though, Pittsburgh @ Cincinnati and Tampa Bay @ Atlanta.

Last week we stayed away from all the chalk in the early game and opted for the late afternoon chalk with the Goff/Kupp stack and it just didn’t work out too well for us, but this we are backing the chalk in the early games again since that seems to be where all the points are likely to be scored. There is also  a huge projected point total for the Sunday night game in Foxborough when the undefeated Chiefs come calling to take on the Brady Bunch. This game is right now at 59 points for the over/under and it may go up.

With all the semantics out-of-the-way let’s get to building a winning cash game roster for week 6!

NFL FantasyDraft Quarterbacks

Andy Dalton is my top pick at quarterback this week against the division rival Steelers at home. With the spread sitting at 53 this game could get high scoring early, and lets hope it does. Pittsburgh ranks 29th in passing yards allowed, 31st in passing touchdowns allowed, and 24th in opponents completions per game. Basically, Pittsburgh’s pass defense is bad and we will look to take advantage this weekend. Another option at QB this week is Matt Ryan against the only team who may be worse against the pass then the Steelers, the Buccaneers. Tampa has allowed the most fantasy points per game to tight ends this season (a little foreshadowing maybe) and the 3rd most yards (415) and 2 touchdowns in 4 games.

NFL FantasyDraft Running Backs

I have gone into some detail about some of the highest scoring games on the slate this week, but my first running back pick is from the lowest projected scoring game, TJ Yeldon and the Jags take on the beleaguered Dallas Cowboys this week. Yeldon took 8 of 10 targets for 69 yards and a touchdown last week and might have them same impact this week. Dallas is allowing 23.5 fppg (PPR) to running backs this season and has allowed 37 receptions to running backs on the season which is 4th worst in the NFL.

My second running back I am looking at this week is Sonny Michel at home against the Chiefs. Since being inserted into the starting running back role two weeks ago Michel has gone for 20.2 and 18 fantasy points and this week he gets to run against a Chiefs defense that has allowed a total of 488 yards on the ground and 4 rushing td’s this season. They also are a league worst at allowing receiving yards (4540 and rank 31st in receptions allowed to running backs. Because of these stats it also makes James White a good play as well. Another running back I like is on the opposite of the field from Michel and White, Kareem Hunt. New England has allowed 1 more yard (489) on the ground then Kansas City has, but only 1 rushing touchdown to a running back this season.

NFL FantasyDraft Wide Receivers

My top two wideouts come from the same game this week, Antonio Brown and AJ Green. I went over the Steelers inefficiencies in the secondary earlier so I won’t go over them again. Brown finally went over the 100 yard mark for the first time this season last week and also had his first multi touchdown game as well. Cincinnati is not as bad as the Steelers in the passing game but they are in the bottom half of the league in passing yards allowed ranking 21st. As for Green, he has been more consistent in FPPG having gone over 20 points in a game 3 times this season. AJ, like Brown, also had his first 100 yard game this season last week.

Heading back to the Chiefs/Pats game for my third WR, Sammy Watkins had a good game against a great Jags D. Watkins caught 6 of 8 targets for 78 yards after missing week 4. In his previous two games Watkins went for 22.1 and 18.5 points. My last choice at wide out is Desean Jackson. With the exception of week 3 against the Steelers, Jackson has gone for 110 yards or more in his other games and is averaging 26.6 FPPG in those games as well. You can also look to Doug Baldwin as a potentially wr candidate for your rosters against a Oakland defense giving up 277.2 passing yards per game this season and ranks 24th in passing touchdowns allowed, averaging 2 td passes allowed per game.

NFL FantasyDraft Tight End

As I alluded to earlier Tampa Bay is terrible at covering tight ends, so because of this I am leaning towards Austin Hooper this week as my top cash game tight end. Hooper went for 9 catches and 77 yards against the Steelers last week. I am hoping for some consistency week to week finally with Hooper and with him playing the Bucs this seems like a better week then any to get it.

NFL FantasyDraft Defense/Special Teams

After looking over the defenses and pricing this week I landed on the Chicago Bears as my favorite for this week. With addition of Khalil Mack, this Bears defense has been one of the top units in the entire league. They rank 2nd in points allowed, 1st in interceptions, and 1st in sacks. It is hard to find a better defense for the price this week than the Bears ($6.4k).
