The No. 13 LSU Tigers upset the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon in Death Valley. Here are the three biggest takeaways from this game.

In the biggest game of the week, the No. 13 LSU Tigers had their way with the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs, winning 36-16 down in Death Valley. LSU rebounded marvelously after a tough loss last week on the road versus the cross-divisional rival Florida Gators in Gainesville. They improve to 6-1 (3-1) on the season.

Georgia never really got into rhythm in this one. LSU was in command from the jump and Georgia’s struggles in the passing game held steady throughout the ball game. Though they remain the best team in SEC East, their next game against Florida in two weeks down in Jacksonville looms large. The Dawgs fall to 6-1 (4-1) on the season.

Here are the three biggest takeaways from LSU’s thrilling upset victory over Georgia.

LSU dominated Georgia by going for it on fourth down

LSU’s dominance over Georgia was obvious all game long. However, it was never more apparent than when the Tigers decided to go for it on fourth down. It was like Georgia never saw it coming on any of the times LSU decided three downs wasn’t enough to move the chains.

LSU was a ridiculous 4-4 on fourth down. It help LSU move the chains on the Dawgs all afternoon, as Kirby Smart’s defense had no answer for Joe Burrow and the LSU attack. These weren’t the four most important plays of the game, but it was clear that Georgia didn’t want to compete to the degree that LSU did in this one. It showed.

Jake Fromm doesn’t like playing SEC West Tigers on the road

Saturday was the second time that Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm has played an SEC West team with the nickname Tigers in his young collegiate career. Last time, he looked rough against the Auburn Tigers down on The Plains in 2017. It was more of the same against LSU in Death Valley in 2018.

Fromm completed 16 of 34 passes for 204 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Though he did find himself to a degree in the second half, he was under 3.0 yards per attempt in the first two quarters. Against an LSU defense this stout in the secondary, it was no wonder why Georgia struggled so badly in Baton Rouge on Saturday afternoon. The Georgia running game isn’t good enough for Fromm to be sub-par against a good team and win consistently.

This is a burn-the-tape game for Georgia, something great to build on for LSU

Well, let’s just hope Georgia enjoys its bye week and gets ready for Florida because this game was terrible for the Dawgs. It was a 2017 Auburn effort and Dawg Nation knows exactly what I’m talking about. Burn this tape once you get back to the Classic City and just try to figure out how to beat Dan Mullen’s bunch down in Jacksonville. Put it in the past, Dawgs.

Next. NFL Draft Big Board. dark

As for LSU, this game should catapult the Tigers back into the top-10 and back into the College Football Playoff race once agin. They still have the juggernaut Alabama Crimson Tide on the slate, but this is a huge win for Ed Orgeron and his program. He’s got this thing humming down in Baton Rouge. LSU made the right decision to remove the interim page on him a few years back. The Tigers are for real, especially in Death Valley.
