Bills need to rest Josh Allen for a few weeks

Rookie Josh Allen has an elbow injury, and the Bills should keep him shelved until he’s fully healed — even if it means Nathan Peterman has to play in his stead.
Things really aren’t getting much better for the Buffalo Bills right now. They are 2-4 following a Week 6 loss in Houston, which came after backup quarterback Nathan Peterman threw a backbreaking pick six in the closing minutes.
And the only reason Peterman was in the game was because rookie quarterback Josh Allen left the game with an injury. Things went from bad to worse for Bills fans with the Allen injury, because not only did they lose their franchise quarterback but they were then forced to watch Peterman attempt to play football.
According to Adam Schefter, it’s unclear if Allen will be good to go for next week’s game against the Colts.
Here’s the deal, Bills fans. Your team isn’t going to make the playoffs this season, regardless of who is playing at quarterback. The 2018 season is hopefully just a speedbump on the road to better days and a brighter future. For the sake of Allen’s long term health, the Bills should sit him for a couple of weeks and let that elbow heal up as much as possible.
Of course, we all know what that would mean. It would mean that Peterman, who might be the worst quarterback in the history of football, would have to play for the time being. That also means that Buffalo wouldn’t be winning another game until Allen returns, and all of those losses would most likely be filled jaw-dropping interceptions and nightmarish pick sixes because that’s just the Peterman way.
But if Allen isn’t 100 percent healthy, it’s not worth putting him at further risk during a season in which playoff hopes are pretty much out the window regardless. If the Bills were 4-2 instead of 2-4 and tied with the New England Patriots for first place in the AFC East, then it would be a different story.
But that’s not the case, and Allen’s future health is more important than the 2018 season. The Bills should keep Allen off the field until he’s completely good to go, even if watching Peterman will make the fans question their will to live.
