DraftKings daily picks: Fantasy basketball lineup – Oct. 16, 2018
High Salary SF
Players costing over $6,250
Kevin Durant (vs OKC, $9,000): Needs 39.9 fantasy points Paul George does as good of a job as anyone when it comes to guarding Durant. But Durant still gets his. He averaged 44.6 fantasy points in four games against the Thunder last season. His big games are limited with Steph Curry in the lineup, but he’s a reliable rebounder and scorer who will chip in defensively. And maybe some he’ll be driven by the “pure hate” by the media and step up his defensive game even more this season. Diagnosis: A reliable 40+ fantasy point player with a high ceiling
Ben Simmons (at BOS, $8,400): Needs 38.6 fantasy points Simmons is always a triple-double threat, which helps, but his lack of three-point shooting also hurts him. Boston being a stout defensive team also hurts. He was more miss than hit against the Celtics last season. Simmons can always provide value with his passing and rebounding, and he’ll probably contribute even more defensively this season, but the Celtics can turn him into a jump shooter with their defense, limiting his ceiling a bit. Diagnosis: Slight risk and his ceiling isn’t as high against a team like Boston that has the personnel to force him off his game.
