5. Mourinho masterminds United victory at Stamford Bridge

One person who might have been happy to see the international break was Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese manager has come under a lot of criticism in his time at Manchester United, and speculation that he would be leaving the club reached new heights ahead of the break.

Things were looking more ominous when United went 2-0 down to Newcastle at Old Trafford. The Red Devils turned it around, though, winning 3-2 thanks to late goal from Alexis Sanchez. The challenge for Mourinho now is to build on that momentum.

That could be difficult on Saturday, as United travel south to face an undefeated Chelsea side who looked a little sloppy to start the season but have emerged as potential title challengers. The Blues showed their quality as they picked Southampton apart in a 3-0 win before the international break.

It’s hard to imagine anything but a Chelsea win on Saturday in the Premier League’s early kickoff. United have looked defensively frail all season and Chelsea will take advantage of that kind of weakness.

However, Mourinho has a knack for getting results in games like this when his side shouldn’t win. This game has the potential to be quite open and if United can tighten up their defense a little bit, they could actually take something from the match.

Their players will be confident following that rousing victory over Newcastle and a big result this weekend could set them on a great run of form. Chelsea will lose for the first time this season as Mourinho masterminds an away win at Stamford Bridge.
