The battle for New York will be on Friday night, as the New York Knicks will trek across the Brooklyn Bridge to face the Nets.

The “Battle of New York” will resume on Friday, when the New York Knicks, long the NBA team to root for in Gotham, will make the trek across the Brooklyn Bridge to face the Brooklyn Nets, a team that’s just trying to get back to relevancy.

These two teams arrive at a crossroads, though neither will be playing for much of anything in the 2018-19 season. But, what both teams showed in their respected openers, was that each won’t be the doormat that many believe they will be.

The Knicks (1-0) came out flying against the hapless Atlanta Hawks, setting a team record for points in a quarter (49) on their way to a 126-107 blowout victory that left new Knicks coach David Fitzdale stunned.

Heck, we were just as stunned with the Knicks offensive explosion as he was.

While it isn’t expected that the Knicks will keep up that type of production, it was a positive sight to see New York get key contributions from players that will be counted on for points with their main man, Kristaps Porzingis, out for a decent amount of time.

While the Nets (0-1) did lose a heartbreaker to the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night, they were able to show off their improved roster. Spencer Dinwiddie continues to be an up-and-coming star, posting 23 points off the bench, while the surrounding pieces made a surprising mark in the loss.
