Rumors have circled regarding the potential trade of Patrick Peterson, now his preferred destination has been revealed.

With the Arizona Cardinals being one of the worst teams in the NFL, it makes sense that All-Pro cornerback Patrick Peterson would rather go somewhere else where he can contribute on a competitive team. Apparently, that team is the New Orleans Saints who have struggled on defense recently, especially in the secondary.

This news was courtesy of Peterson’s cousin according to Adam Schefter. Regardless, having New Orleans as his preferred destination makes so much sense for Peterson. They are a talented team that is looking like one of the best in the NFC and he can pair up with Marshon Lattimore. Boy that would be something, wouldn’t it?

Unfortunately for the Saints, completing this trade would be rather difficult as they don’t possess a first or third round selection in the upcoming draft. That comes as a result of them trading up in the 2018 draft to select Marcus Davenport, another crucial building block on defense.

Adding to the intrigue of this situation, the Dallas Cowboys just traded a first round pick for Amari Cooper. Clearly, the Arizona Cardinals will use that trade as leverage in any potential trade for Peterson as he is only 28 years old and is still one of the best corners in the game.

A second rounder likely won’t be enough to get Peterson out of Arizona, especially considering that the organization has been adamant that they don’t plan on moving him. The tug-of-war will go on, but it is unknown what will end up happening.

Next. Cowboys trade for Amari Cooper. dark

All-Pro caliber players don’t become available very often, and from what we saw regarding the Khalil Mack trade, another team is always willing to pull the trigger. Will that team be the Saints, or someone else?
