Fantasy Football, Week 8: High value plays for DraftKings
By Dylan Broady
Deshaun Watson, Houston Texans, $6,000
Stats: 1,937 passing yards, 10 touchdowns, 216 rushing yards, 1 touchdown
Deshaun Watson has a partially collapsed lung, and he’s still playing football. If that doesn’t make you want to start this guy I dont know what else will. He has a Thursday night football matchup with the Miami Dolphins looming. Watson has been in a bit of a slump, but this home tilt with the Dolphins offers plenty of upside for Watson and should provide him with a nice fantasy outing.
This quarterback is electric when healthy. We all witnessed his impressive rookie campaign and what he’s capable of doing to opposing defenses. Watson has had a very decent comeback this season for the Houston Texans. With playmakers like DeAndre Hopkins at his disposal, the sky is the limit in Week 8. Watson boasts some nice leg mechanics on the field as well as his arm.
The very mediocre Dolphins defense won’t be able to keep up with Watson once he gets his offense on a roll. This is the perfect opportunity to get a quick jump on Sunday’s competition on DraftKings. Watson is just outside the top ten is each category except interceptions. Don’t let that sway your decision this week. He has a matchup with a defense that is 27th-ranked in the league. The Dolphins also give up an astounding 405 yards per game.
Watson comes at a perfect price with a great opportunity against a very poor Miami defense in Week 8. Take advantage of the Thursday night matchup and his price. There are seven quarterbacks more expensive and you could use the extra money to fill out your skill positions and stabilize your lineup. We all know how exciting the Thursday games can be. Take Watson this week if you can because this matchup is just what the fantasy doctor has ordered.
Prediction: 350 passing yards, 50 rushing yards, 4 total touchdowns
