NHL DFS Man Advantage Friday October 26
By Matt Vecchio
Welcome to NHL DFS Man Advantage for Friday October 26th! Just as a heads up I am a little under the weather today so this article might not be as detailed as my usual ones, but I wanted to make sure I got something out for you guys. This is an odd slate with Vegas and Tampa dropping the puck at 6pm et and DraftKings has included this game in the main slate for the night. After the early puck drop the rest of the slate kicks into gear at 7:30 with a pair of game and then Ottawa heads to Colorado for the last game of the evening.
We have another night where one goalie is going to be extremely chalky. Whether Hellebuyck or Laurent Brossoit start they will be the chalk goalie of the evening against a bad Detroit Red Wings team. At the time of writing we only know that Grubauer is starting for the Av’s, as far as the rest of the games I am just going off the expected starter. According to Pregame.com the Sens/Av’s and Canes/Sharks have the highest implied goal total, while the Knights and Lightning have the lowest ( there is no odds yet on the Wings and Jets game)
NHL DFS Goalies
As I mentioned above the chalk goalie, and my top goalie, is whoever gets the nod for the Jets. Connor Hellebuyck and Laurent Brossoit are the top two in price on the slate at $8.4K and $8.2K respectively. Detroit has only scored 20 goals on the season which is ranked 27 in the league and Winnipeg’s netminders have allowed a combined 28 goals on 347 shots against good for a team GAA of 2.80.
With a small slate there are obviously limited choices to choose from. I landed on Marc-Andre Fleury and Andrei Vasilevskiy as 2a and 2b with this game having the lowest projected goal total on the slate. Both teams rank in the top 10 in goals against (VGK are 9th and TB are 2nd). There is a chance that one or both teams go with a back up. If that does happen then I am inclined to use Louis Domingue from Tampa. If either starter does go against the others back up then I would recommend him as a win is likely for that team. (sorry for the vagueness of this but it’s hard when there is a chance of two back ups starting to really give you a solid direction)

NHL DFS Game Breakdowns
Tampa Bay Lightning @ Vegas Golden Knights
This game has the lowest projected goal total on the night based on the caliber of goaltending we could see in this game. For Vegas the top line of Jonathan Marchessault – William Karlsson – Reilly Smth is the only group worth using from Vegas right now. On the season they’ve combined for 23 points, 1 more point then the rest of the team combined. If you are looking for value with Vegas I look to the recently returned Alex Tuch. Tuch will cost $4.6K on DK and is playing second line minutes as well 1st unit PP. I am not playing anyone from the Golden Knights defense tonight.
Tampa Bay has spread around their goal scoring with 4 players tied with 8 points on the season and one of them is actually not Steven Stamkos. He plays on the top line with Yanni Gourde and Brayden Point who both are tied with 8 points. As far as value with from Tampa I am interested in Ondrej Palat. Palat hasn’t played as well as he can but he had assists in 5 straight before getting shutout on Wednesday night against Colorado. Ryan McDonagh is my pick for a dman from Tampa. Over his last 4 games McDonagh has averaged 3.5 FPPG and he will only run you $4.5K
Winnipeg Jets @ Detroit Red Wings
Detroit has given up a league worst 39 goals on the season and has taken the 3rd most penalties in the league. Winnipeg has a very potent power play which is tied for 3rd in the league with 9 power play goals. With all this being said, I am sure you can tell where I am going with this. I am on Winnipeg’s power play for my plays from them. I love the Jets top PP unit with Patrick Laine, Blake Wheeler, Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele, and Josh Morrisey. This unit contains the team’s top 4 scorers, and Laine is 7th with 5 points on the season. I advocate using any combo or 2-3 of these players for your Jets stack. If you are looking for value I am actually going to give a defenseman from the Jets. Jacob Trouba comes in at $4.8K on DK and even though he doesn’t see PP time he does have a goal and 4 assists in his last 3 games and is seeing over 22 minutes of ice time per game this season
I really can’t give you much to play from Detroit, since Detroit really hasn’t given us much to work with. They are the worst team in the league currently and the only player I can see using would be Andreas Athanasiou ($5.1K). Over his last 4 games he has 3 goals and an assist, and he also sees 2nd PP minutes. Dennis Cholowski is another player you can consider on the point. In just 7 games Cholo has 2 goals and 3 assists and sees time with Athanasiou on the second PP unit.

San Jose Sharks @ Carolina Hurricanes
San Jose’s best line so far has been their 2nd line with Tomas Hertl – Logan Couture – Timo Meier. This line has scored 13 goals combined on the season and are split between both PP units. Couture plays on the first unit with Brent Burns and Evander Kane. These three make for an expensive PP stack, while Meier and Hertl play with Kevin Labanc, Mard-Edouard Vlasic, and Jonas Donskoi.
Carolina is a surprise sitting towards the top of the Atlantic standings. They are getting great production out of their top line, like most of the best teams do, especially from Sebastian Aho and team leading 10 assists and 14 points. Micheal Ferland leads the team in goals with 6, and Teuvo Teravainen has 1 goal and 7 assists. Unfortunately for the Canes, there is no real depth outside of the top line since the second line stopped scoring after the first week of the season. On defense Justin Faulk leads the team in points by a defenseman with 1 goal and 4 assists. Jacob Slavin is another option of the point, he is second on the team with 4 points by a defenseman.
Ottawa Senators @ Colorado Avalanche
Thomas Chabot is making Senators fans forget about Erik Karlsson with his outstanding play this season. He leads the team with 7 assists and 10 points and is only 1 goal off the team lead. Matt Duchene has the revenge narrative going as he returns to Colorado for the first time since the trade last season. As for a forward line I am on, it has to be the Senators second line of Ryan Dzingel – Chris Tierney – Mark Stone. Tierney has been the best forward for the Senators all season and has 1 goal and 5 assists in his last 5 games. Stone has been almost as hot as Tierney recently with 3 goals and 2 assists in his last 4.
For Colorado it’s the same old story, they are a one line team. All three of Mikko Rantanen – Nathan MacKinnon – Gabriel Landeskog (or a combo of two of them ) will be very highly owned tonight, so I don’t suggest using this line as your GPP stack, but they are almost necessary to cash in cash games . You can use Tyson Jost as some value in your GPP’s since he centers the aforementioned 1st line and Tyson Barrie on the first PP unit.
