The No. 3 Notre Dame Fighting Irish are looking to extend their winning streak and remain undefeated while the Navy Midshipmen are hoping to shock the world and fix their season.

Notre Dame has climbed all the way up to the No. 3 spot in the rankings and is looking for much more out of the season. The Fighting Irish are 7-0 this season and have, for the most part, played well. This is a team that has a 7 point win over then No. 14 Michigan, a 21 point win over then No. 7 Stanford, and finally a 22-point win over then No. 24 Virginia Tech.

Since those games, the rankings have shifted a bit. At the moment, Stanford has fallen to 24 and Virginia Tech dropped out of the AP poll. The Wolverines, on the other hand, climbed all the way up to earn the No. 5 ranking. And if Notre Dame makes it all the way to the end of the season undefeated, that’s a win that advocates for the Fighting Irish are going to hold on to.

On the field, Ian Book leads Notre Dame’s offense. Book, as a sophomore, is completing 75.2 percent of his passes and has 11 touchdowns on the season. The Fighting Irish are going to turn to him to get the bulk of their production when facing Navy’s porous pass defense this Saturday. Last time Notre Dame played, the Fighting Irish didn’t necessarily look the part of a playoff contender. The game against Pitt was a fairly rough one for Brian Kelly’s team.

Navy, on the other hand, has looked rough throughout the entire season. The Midshipmen only have a 2-5 record so far and things haven’t been pretty all year. Navy is currently on a four-game losing streak and the Fighting Irish have their sights set on giving the Midshipmen yet another loss this weekend.

Prediction: While Navy challenged Notre Dame a season ago, there’s little reason to believe that the Midshipmen should be able to do so again this year. The Fighting Irish have too much talent to lose in this game and should be able to win big against Navy.
