The Red Sox trolled the Yankees after winning the World Series on Sunday night. Did Yankee fans really think they wouldn’t?
After the Boston Red Sox defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 5 of the World Series to clinch their fourth title in 14 years, they celebrated by taking a minor shot at their hated rivals from the Bronx.
While soaking themselves in champagne inside the Dodger Stadium clubhouse, the Red Sox played “New York, New York” — something that became popular to do when they played the New York Yankees just a few weeks earlier in the American League Division Series.
But apparently, it rubbed some Yankee supporters the wrong way… which I guess was kind of the point.

Honestly, what did Yankee fans really expect?
The whole thing began after Game 2 of the ALDS back in early October. The Yankees had just defeated the Red Sox at Fenway Park to even up the series at one game apiece. As the Yankees were leaving the stadium, Aaron Judge played the song as a means of trolling the Red Sox.
The situation was eaten up by the media; probably a little more than it should’ve been, but hey, it’s the postseason!
Anyway, after the Red Sox eliminated the Yankees just a few nights later at Yankee Stadium, they retaliated by playing the same song in the midst of celebrating their victory.
And now, weeks later, Judge and the Yankees are still on the minds of the Red Sox as they celebrate another World Series title. Would Yankee fans really expect it to be any other way? This is the most heated rivalry in all of sports.
When one team wins a championship, doesn’t it make sense that they would want to rub it in the face of the other team?

This is how rivalries work, so settle down, New York fans. You know that if it were the Yankees that won the title, they would’ve been trolling the Red Sox too. Heck, they did it after just winning a single game — the last game they would win in 2018.
