Patriots receiver Josh Gordon was to sit the first quarter of Monday nights game against the Bills per a report but didn’t. Afterward, Coach Bill Belichick was confused about the ordeal.

A report Monday afternoon began circulating that Patriots star Josh Gordon was to be reprimanded for arriving late to a team meeting and their bus. But apparently, when Gordon started the game, the report appeared to be a work of fiction.

Gordon would not only start the game but played in 64 of the 78 offensive snaps taken by the Patriots offense, gaining 42 yards on four catches in the process of the Pats 25-6 victory. After the game, head coach Bill Belichick expressed how he was unaware of the report in its entirety.

"Asked about the report after the game, Patriots coach Bill Belichick replied: “Yeah, I don’t know. You’d have to ask whoever wrote that. I have no idea.” Gordon, who finished with four catches on six targets for 42 yards, also had little to say on the matter. “That’s going to be a question you have to ask Coach about,” he said in his postgame news conference. “But as it relates to the game, I was available, so that’s a plus.”"

Immediately, Gordon’s suspension was championed as the Patriots way is still alive and well. But since Gordon wasn’t suspended for the first quarter and he started, maybe it’s an indication that the Belichick’s influence and the Patriots Way is working in a positive manner. Gordon has stated he was appreciative of being presented this opportunity to play for the Patriots, and the egoless nature of the team curated by Belichick allows him to observe more. When you’re winning and contributing, it would be illogical to mess that up. But as always, common sense can often times not be common.

Next. Todd Gurley doesn't care about your fantasy. dark

So far this season, Josh Gordon has 18 catches, 283 yards, and two touchdowns. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has marveled on how Gordon has picked up their complicated offense and the work ethic/willingness to learn he displays. With that said, Belichick, Brady, and Gordon have a good thing going, and Gordon must make sure reports that circulated Monday, doesn’t become a reality.
