2. Tre’Quan Smith, WR, New Orleans Saints

Since the preseason, the New Orleans Saints have been high on third-round wide receiver Tre’Quan Smith, who recently received an opportunity to start in the Saints offense following speedster Ted Ginn Jr.’s injury.

Smith immediately burst onto the scene in Week 5, showing off his trademark explosiveness against a helpless Washington defense that surrendered 111 yards and a pair of touchdowns to the playmaker on just 3 receptions.

However, Smith has been awfully quiet since that breakout performance in his first real appearance for the Saints, and he caught just 3 passes for 18 yards in Week 8 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas are two of the best players in the entire NFL, so they command a huge number of touches. That isn’t changing any time soon, and it’s something that fantasy football owners of Smith’s will have to be aware of.

That said, Smith has so much natural talent, and the Saints offense can easily feed a second mouth, especially someone like Smith who can take it to the house on any given play. He should be signed in all fantasy leagues because of his upside, especially since he’s able to get matchups against burnable defenses going forward.
