The Golden State Warriors return home from a flawless three-game trip out East to tangle with the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night.
The Golden State Warriors are coming off of a record-breaking trip out East, and greeting them at Oracle Arena on Wednesday night will be Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans.
For those that may not have heard, the Warriors (7-1) broke all sorts or NBA records in their drubbing of the hapless Chicago Bulls on Monday night. Golden State set a record for most 3-pointers in a game (24) and most 3-pointers in a half (17). Klay Thompson set records for most 3-pointers in a half (10) and in a game (14), the latter breaking his teammate Stephen Curry’s mark by one.
If this was done by any other team, it would be a special occasion, but one has to get the feeling that, because it was the Warriors, this sort of thing comes natural, and in many cases, one would have a point.
Golden State is so loaded with weapons, that breaking scoring records comes as second nature to them. Who knows? They could break records against the Pelicans on Wednesday night?
They are that potent, which make them so dangerous.
Their offensive slaughter of the rebuilding Bulls was part of a 3-0 sweep of their first East Coast road trip, which included a surprisingly tough test in the Brooklyn Nets in the middle of the trip. Outside of that game, the trip went in true Warrior fashion — as a breeze.
Now, Golden State will open a five-game homestand against the Pelicans, who have slid back to Earth after a 4-0 start.
After a nail-biting win against the Nets, the Pelicans were blown out of their own building against the Utah Jazz, and suffered a heartbreaker against the Denver Nuggets., which kicked off a five-game road trip that, in addition to Golden State, will see them pay visits to Portland, San Antonio, and Oklahoma City. In short, this will not be an easy stretch for New Orleans.
This is the first meeting between these two clubs.
