If there’s one thing a basketball/comedy mashup podcast that often records in the middle of the day knows about, it’s getting let go from a job. It can be painful, but often it leads to something better. Turns out learning that a career at Sbarro maybe wasn’t the best use of your talents is worth getting briefly upset that you no longer have access to free garlic breadsticks. Sometimes getting fired is a blessing in disguise.

And sometimes the blessing isn’t disguised at all. Like if you coach for Dan Gilbert, who will pay you handsomely to leave the dead end position of coaching the Cavaliers with dignity and career record intact. Such is the scenario for for Tyronne Lue, who probably couldn’t have envisioned a better end to his season.

So on a new episode of Fastbreak Breakfast we try to imagine what the conversation went like when Lue was let go, and whether he tried to hide his glee at all. In addition, we role play Gilbert trying to offer the thankless coaching position to Larry Drew, who is apparently less than thrilled about it.

Next. The Grizzlies don't know who should be playing. dark

Also covered on this episode:

  • Should the Rockets give up on Carmelo Anthony? How about Michael Carter-Williams?
  • What is the best timezone to live in as an NBA fan?
  • Do we have any favorite memories of Tyler Lydon? How about Henry Ellenson? Be honest, could you correctly identify them if you saw them together?
