Manifest is NBC’s hottest new show and for good reason as it combines mystery, suspense and drama. November 4 marks the day Flight 828 landed.

Montego Air Flight 828 took off on April 7, 2013, and though it seemed like an ordinary flight the plane had more than a slight delay as it returned over five and a half years later on Nov. 4, 2018. Manifest is the exploration of what happened to the passengers and how their return will impact those they left behind, while also exploring the strange voices that are calling to them. Nov. 4, 2018, is the day the plane landed, and cast and crew are celebrating the event on social media.

The passengers of Flight 828 arrived to find that over five years passed and everything they knew to be true upon takeoff had now changed. It’s an intriguing concept, which makes for great television because there’s a lot more to the story than happiness all around that the missing passengers returned. It’s so much more complicated than that.

One of the most intriguing stories to come out of Manifest is what happened while the passengers were gone, and how difficult it is to integrate past and present upon the return of family and friends. It’s not as easy as you’d think as people have died, people have remarried and relationships have changed.

In addition to complicated new relationships, the passengers are being “called” by mysterious voices. They’re tied to something bigger, to some higher purpose, and they have to discover what it all means while evading investigators who want to know what happened with Flight 828.

Here are some of the comments from Manifest’s cast and crew about Manifest Day:

Manifest has had such a strong outing because creator and showrunner Jeff Rake has a plan for the show. Instead of winging it, he laid out a six-year plan for the show ten years ago when he came up with the idea, and every nuance has been carefully crafted. Nothing has been left to coincidence, so the continued appearance of the number 828 and little symbols throughout do indeed have deeper meaning and they’re all part of the plan.

As we move into episode 6, which airs on Nov. 5, the notion of being called to a higher purpose comes into question as the callings impact Cal Stone’s health.
