A winless Huddersfield welcomes a struggling Fulham to the John Smith’s Stadium on Monday, Nov. 5. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
Coming off a humbling 3-0 defeat at Watford last time out in Premier League action, a winless Huddersfield returns home to the John Smith’s Stadium and will look to take a vital three points from a struggling Fulham side in a match that has potential relegation implications.
The Terriers have only managed three draws from their first ten Premier League outings this season and currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League table on goal difference coming into the weekend.
Scoring goals has been a huge problem for Huddersfield. The Terriers have only managed four goals in ten Premier League matches this season and have been shut out in six.
Terriers’ manager David Wagner will hope that a leaky Fulham defense is just the medicine needed to cure his side’s goal scoring woes as Huddersfield has not managed more than a single goal in any match this season.
Fulham come into Monday’s match off a disappointing 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth last time out and sit in 18th place in the Premier League table on goal difference coming into the weekend. The Cottagers must improve a back line that has conceded a Premier League-worst 28 goals in ten matches if they have hopes of staving off relegation this season.
Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic will need to alter the team’s free-flowing style that had so much success last year in getting the Cottagers promoted to the Premier League. Despite getting a vote of confidence from owner Shahid Khan before last weekend’s capitulation to Bournemouth, many are calling for the Fulham boss’s head if he fails to deliver a result this weekend at Huddersfield.
And Jokanovic may be facing a splintering locker room as well. Fulham defender and American international Tim Ream was quoted as saying after last week’s loss that “there’s no fight amongst the group right now.”
Fulham supporters can only hope that Jokanovic can rally his players if they want to avoid being sent straight back down to the Championship. Otherwise, it may be time for a managerial change at Craven Cottage.
Both Huddersfield and Fulham must treat this match as a must-win if each club harbors hopes of remaining in the Premier League next season. Both managers know that taking points from clubs that are battling to stay out of the relegation zone will be critical as the season progresses.
The Cottagers last visited the Terriers back in April 2017 when both clubs were in the Championship with Fulham running out 4-1 winners.
