After suffering what could be a torn Achilles, Dez Bryant most likely won’t be looking back on the year 2018 with fond memories.

It seems like 2018 will be a year to forget for Dez Bryant. He just can’t catch a break right now.

The New Orleans Saints fear that Bryant suffered a torn Achilles at the end of practice on Friday. After the injury, Bryant was helped off the field — never a good sign. He will undergo further tests before everything is all said and done, so the Saints can still hope for a miracle until that happens. But it’s probably safe to say that things aren’t looking good.

It’s been quite a difficult year for Bryant, the 30-year-old wide receiver who spent the first half of the 2018 season out of the NFL. It wasn’t until this week that Bryant was finally given an opportunity to get back on the field, signing a one-year deal with New Orleans, a team that could find itself in the Super Bowl in a few months.

Just when it looked like the tide was finally turning for Bryant, an injury like this had to happen just two days after he signed his deal.

After being drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 2010, Bryant then spent the next seven seasons in Dallas becoming one of the league’s premier wide receivers. But his production began to slip during his last few years with the Cowboys, and he was released by the team this past April following a hideous falling out between himself and the organization, primarily owner Jerry Jones.

Ever since then, Bryant has been searching for a new team, but without any luck. He came close to joining the Cleveland Browns before the season kicked off, but the Browns ultimately decided to go in another direction.

During what can only be considered one of the most brutal years of Bryant’s football career, it seemed like he had finally caught the break of all breaks by joining a Super Bowl contender that just knocked off the league’s best team, the Los Angeles Rams.

But barring a miracle, it looks like Bryant’s season might be over before it finally even got started. Sports can be very cruel sometimes.
