The undefeated Clemson Tigers will face their toughest remaining test as they go on the road against the tough-minded Boston College Eagles.

Though there is more than one game remaining on the schedule for the Clemson Tigers, Week 11 presents to them an interesting proposition. On Saturday night in primetime, they’ll face the 17th-ranked Boston College Eagles in what is their toughest matchup left on the schedule this season. If they can pass another test, they’re almost surely looking at a perfect regular season and a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Clemson, put simply, has been bullying opponents in recent weeks. We knew coming into the season that a defense anchored by Christian Wilkins, Clelin Ferrell and Kendall Joseph would be a force in college football. However, with true freshman Trevor Lawrence taking the starting quarterback job, the offense has been a juggernaut of late. With the signal-caller hitting his stride and the likes of Travis Etienne backing him in the run game, the Tigers have been phenomenal to this point.

Having said that, this Boston College team shouldn’t be underrated. Though they are far less explosive offensively than their opponents, that’s just their style. On offense, they can wear teams down with a strong offensive line and a talented back in A.J. Dillon. Then, on defense, the Eagles have a formidable front four and solid secondary that can make plays and turn the tide of a game as well.

Subsequently, there is the potential for the Eagles, especially playing at home, to cause some hiccups for the Tigers. That’s even more so the case when you consider that the early November weather in the northeast U.S. is currently cold and rainy, something that the Tigers may not fully be ready for. As such, this is an upset special, or at least it has the potential to be one.

From how the oddsmakers have this matchup set up, they don’t believe that the Eagles have a chance in this game. Having said that, with some weather conditions in play and with how Boston College likes to play, that point spread makes the underdogs an intriguing proposition if you’re wagering on this one.

Prediction

This game is going to be lower scoring and ultimately closer than the oddsmakers are projecting. With the rain and the cold, it’s hard to think that the Clemson offense will be as explosive as they’ve been in recent weeks, especially against this Boston College defense. And, though the Tigers defense is stout, Dillon and Co. will chew up some clock. The Tigers will stay unbeaten, but it’ll be in a tightly contested affair.

Final Score: Clemson Tigers 28, Boston College Eagles 17
