Here is the fantasy football impact going forward of the good and bad we saw in the early Week 10 games.

The Week 10 early slate of games featured some interesting Fantasy Football match-ups. There were a few match-ups before the games started at least, that could lead to a lot of scoring which fantasy football owners love. But there were some that could end 14-10.

There were a few offenses that looked like they didn’t show up this week. The Detroit Lions, Cincinnati Bengals and Arizona Cardinals, teams that could score 20-plus points per game, were held to under 10 points in the first half of their games.

The New York Jets got on the scoreboard with a last-second field goal to end the half. The Washington Redskins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers combined for nine points in the first half.

With everything that went down in these eight games in Week 10, there are signs that point to either progression or regression in Week 11 and beyond. Here’s the fantasy football reaction to what happened in the early slate of games.

DET/CHI

The Lions offense did not look good the first week without Golden Tate. The Bears defense is solid but they can still be scored on. 5-for-7 with 41 yards and zero first-half points is not good for any quarterback. Matt Stafford threw for 274 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Outside of Kerryon Johnson, it’s a play at your own risk situation.

Mitchell Trubisky is stepping up in his second year. The addition of Allen Robinson is proving to be worth it as the two connected for six receptions for 133 yards and two scores. With some favorable match-ups coming up, these two should be able to connect for more passes.

NO/CIN

Drew Brees is targeting Michael Thomas more than the other Saints wide receivers combined this season, 87 to 64. He is a first-round pick next season. Both Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram are surviving in this offense as well. The Saints rolled to their eighth-straight win and may be the best team in the NFL right now.

The Bengals scored just one touchdown in the first half. Joe Mixon was running well but Andy Dalton was under pressure and couldn’t make good throws. I like Dalton as a QB2 but with the Ravens, Browns and Broncos next on the schedule and not having A.J. Green, he is a desperation play.

The Browns have potential with the addition of the right pieces. Baker Mayfield made some rookie mistakes but those risks could lead to big plays. He had just three incompletions this game. Nick Chubb is a great RB2 going forward and into next season. He broke away for a 92-yard touchdown in the third quarter.

Julio Jones is finally scoring. After not scoring for what seemed like forever, he scored a touchdown in back-to-back weeks. With Mohamed Sanu and Calvin Ridley not being consistent weapons, Jones is still going to get the majority of targets. Neither running back rushed for more than 50 yards.

NE/TEN

Josh Gordon is going to attract a lot of interest parties. With the performance he’s had in New England, the Patriots will look to bring him back in 2019. However, a team in need of a wide receiver could sign him to a big deal. The Patriots continue to hate fantasy football owners with their use of James Develin.

I called for owners to drop Derrick Henry a few weeks ago. It was the right call at the time. Though, owners in deeper leagues may not have been able to afford to drop him. If they didn’t, they have been rewarded with touchdowns in three straight games including two in Week 10.

JAX/IND

Leonard Fournette was back in the lineup after missing a few weeks with a hamstring injury. He looked good, rushing for 53 yards and a touchdown on 24 attempts. The passing game, however, did not look good. Blake Bortles threw an 80-yard touchdown to Donte Moncrief but was held to 239 yards and another touchdown.

The Colts offense can support both Jack Doyle and Eric Ebron. Doyle is the better pass catcher but the coaches get Ebron involved any way possible. He had three touchdowns in Week 10, including a two-yard rushing touchdown. They are good second-tier tight ends in most leagues and are Andrew Luck‘s top targets.

David Johnson had himself another good game. He’s heating up heading into the fantasy playoffs. However, the quarterback Josh Rosen did not. He had a hard time making connections with Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk, combined for eight catches and 58 yards.

More from FanSided

The Chiefs secondary can be taken advantage of but the front line was able to pressure the quarterback. With the Rams, Raiders, Ravens and Chargers the next four opponents on the schedule, start as many of those players as possible.

Tyreek Hill is Patrick Mahomes go-to target in all areas of the field. Travis Kelce is also getting looks but not at the same rate as when Alex Smith was the quarterback.

BUF/NYJ

LeSean McCoy scored his first two touchdowns of the season. It wasn’t as long of a scoring drought as Julio Jones‘ but in an offense void of talent, it may be worse. He is a low-end RB2 next season. Matt Barkley seemed to be the savior with his 232 yards and two touchdowns. I wouldn’t trust him going forward but it was a big surprise.

The Jets were dominated on both sides of the ball in this game. Barkley was throwing all over the place while Josh McCown couldn’t break 200 yards, 135 and two interceptions. If you own a Jets receiver, I’d bench them until Sam Darnold is back under center.

WSH/TB

This game was a snoozefest compared to the other games in this slate. Smith threw for just 178 yards and a touchdown and the running game didn’t pick up the slack. I called Maurice Harris a cheap play in DFS but that didn’t pan out with just 10.2 points. I wouldn’t want to own anyone on this offense heading towards the playoffs.

Ryan Fitzpatrick was his typical self in this game. He broke away from defenders to keep plays alive but he also threw the ball up and was picked off. Fitzpatrick threw for 403 yards and two interceptions. Peyton Barber is getting most of the carries but isn’t scoring. No one is.

Some of the Week 10 performances, like Tom Brady and the Patriots, are likely one-week anomalies. However, owners should expect teams like the Jets and Cardinals to continue to struggle. You don’t need to own players on bad teams. Add the players who are getting targets or carries and scoring as a result.
