Nike and the NBA have revealed the 2018-2019 City Edition jerseys, and 29 of the 30 teams debuted new designs. Time to rank the worst to the best.

For the second year in a row the NBA and Nike unveiled new editions of City-themed jerseys, so of course, they need to be ranked, dissected and some even thrown into the fire. There were more misses than surefire hits this time around, which begs the question, does every team need a new City Edition jersey every year?

Some teams went all out, others played it safe and some just flat out didn’t try. If teams aren’t going to come with a super creative, fresh idea the need for a new jersey every season seems unnecessary. One thing is certain, there will be a lot of teams still searching for a good City-themed jersey next year because some of these completely missed the mark.

Starting at the worst of the bunch, here are the definitive rankings for the 2018 NBA City Edition jerseys.

30. Milwaukee Bucks

Credit the Bucks for trying to be different. They tried to throw it back to The Mecca, but this is not it. It’s a lot to unpack honestly, some on Twitter have likened it to the inside of a McDonald’s, which would have made more sense if this were the McDonald’s All-American Game.

If the Bucks would’ve just chosen one of the three colors featured in this look it would’ve been palpable at the very least, but making these geometric shapes with two shades of yellow/orange and red seems like no one could agree on what color to make the base so they compromised on this.

Milwaukee said that these jerseys are meant to “celebrate risk-taking and the art of the game.” If that was the goal then they accomplished that tenfold, but this level of risk-taking was unnecessary when the Bucks have so many great throwback jerseys they could’ve improved upon.

This is the perfect example of a team that should’ve sat this year’s round of City Edition jerseys out. The Bucks could’ve just worn what they rolled out last year, those cream unis with the forest green and white stripes across the chest are not a bad alternate look, and they’re a lot easier on the eyes too.
