The Boston Celtics are coming off of a disheartening West Coast trip. Will a date with the Chicago Bulls be the answer to their problems?

There is something amiss with the Boston Celtics.

Once thought of as the pre-season favorite to run the tables in the post-LeBron James Eastern Conference, the Celtics (7-6) appear to be sputtering, while their competition speeds away from them.

The disorganized Celtics will look to get their season on track when they return home to face the rebuilding Chicago Bulls.

For the past week, the Celtics were on the road for a five-game against some of the NBA’s best, but they ended the trip 1-4, capping their disappointing road trip with a 100-94 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday night.

Jason Tatum poured in 27 points and grabbed eight rebounds, and Kyrie Irving chipped in 21 points for the Celtics, but they fell apart toward the end and fell victim to a balanced Portland attack.

The loss dropped Boston to 4-5 on the road, but fortunately, they’ll open up a three-game homestand against the Bulls (4-10), which, despite their record, has begun to find their footing a bit.

Led by high-flying play Zach LaVine, Chicago has split their last four games. Despite losing to the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night,  it’s becoming clear that the Bulls won’t be door-mats this season, and they’ve found a number one scorer in LaVine, who led the Bulls with 26 points against Dallas and is averaging 27.1 points per game this season.

This will be the first meeting between the two teams this season, and, for Boston, this is a matchup that they are sorely looking forward to. If Boston has dreams of contending in the East, they have to fix their issues, and quickly.

If not, then maybe we may have overrated the Celtics.
