Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins is dealing with a foot injury, but he’s expected to play Monday night against the Rams.

Featuring two of the league’s top three scoring offenses and an over-under of 63.5, Monday night’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Rams fits the fantasy football axiom of “start everyone.” The lone exception was Chiefs’ wide receiver Sammy Watkins, but Omar Ruiz of NFL Network has reported there’s a “pretty good chance” Watkins suits up Monday night.

Watkins missed Week 10 against the Arizona Cardinals with a foot injury, which was cause for concern given his history of foot trouble. Signs quickly pointed to him being ready to play against the Rams, who he played for last season, but absences from practice on both Friday and Saturday put his status on the negative side of an official questionable tag.

Watkins has been a decent asset for fantasy football owners this year, as WR28 in ESPN PPR scoring entering Week 11, with at least five catches in five of nine games he’s played and over 50 yards six times.

Ruiz passed along word from Chiefs’ head coach Andy Reid that Watkins’ practice absence on Friday and Saturday was about rest, after testing his foot in practice on Thursday. Watkins’ status will become official about an hour and a half before kickoff Monday night, and there’s a chance he’s on a limited snap count if he does play. Chris Conley played 91.5 percent of the snaps against Arizona last week, so he may play a lot again against the Rams even if Watkins is active.

Though he’s apparently in 36% percent of Yahoo! league lineups, fantasy owners who have Watkins were right to bench him this week with a Monday night game looming. Assuming he’s in uniform, a stat line that includes a couple touchdowns and 90-100 yards against his former team can be virtually assured to bolster the bench points for around two-thirds of fantasy owners.
