Marcell Ateman, WR, Oakland Raiders

Stats: four catches, 50 yards and five targets

This weekend marked rookie Marcell Ateman’s first action in an NFL game. He added from the practice squad to help fill in the Oakland Raiders depleted wide receiver corps. This group has dealt with a long of injuries and the mid-season trade of Amari Cooper.

At the moment Jordy Nelson, Martavis Bryant and Brandon LaFell are all out with injuries. The LaFell injury really puts the Raiders in a bind because he was seeing plenty of targets after being added a few weeks ago.

Ateman now steps to the forefront a should be a big part of the game plan moving forward. He’s a big bodied wide receiver who does a good job high pointing the football.

The Raiders have very little options at the position and could feature the rookie Ateman. He has a chance to be a really effective red zone player and someone they could build around moving forward.

Oakland’s offense isn’t exactly a high powered unit, but someone has to catch passes from Derek Carr. Ateman is someone worth a flyer and a potential low-end FLEX play moving forward. However, there’s also a chance he falls off the map as the Raiders get some healthy bodies back in the lineup.
