In the middle of tragedy, the Paradise Adventist Academy received an outpouring of support from another high school in the form of uniforms and equipment.

As tragic as the Camp Fire has been to Butte County, California, this is also the time when neighbors come together to help their fellow neighbor.

In this case, it was a high school that came to the aid of the Paradise Adventist Academy.

The school, located in the town of Paradise, was destroyed along with the entire town. The girl’s volleyball team’s uniforms and equipment were all lost to the flames that roared through and destroyed their town. Out of the ashes, though, came generosity from Forest Lake Christian High School in Auburn, located 84 miles southwest of Paradise.

According to KTVU, Forest Lake asked the California Interscholastic Federation if the school’s volleyball team could collect the entrance fee to its games as donations to the victims of the Camp Fire.

The CIF approved the school’s request, and the donations went to the Paradise Adventist Academy’s girl’s volleyball team. With their school in ruins, the team still traveled to Auburn to play Forest Lake, and when they arrived, they were gifted with new uniforms, knee pads, and socks.

Forest Lake’s generosity wasn’t just limited to the Paradise Adventist girl’s volleyball team.

In addition to the new equipment for the team, Forest Lake also stocked a room filled with good for the families of Paradise who lost everything. Many of the residents who quickly fled the flames of the Camp Fire only had the clothes on their backs, not having enough time to gather their belongings.

In all, Forest Lake raised over $16,000 for Paradise.

It just goes to show you that the power of sports and how it can unite in a time of need, and how generosity can, indeed, make us all feel a bit better about humanity.
