Fantasy Football 2018: Top 10 waiver wire Week 12 pickups

For Week 12, fantasy football owners have several enticing option on the waiver wire, but perhaps none moreso in deeper leagues than the pass-catchers of significance on the Los Angeles Rams.

To finish Week 11, the Los Angeles Rams outlasted Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in a 54-51 victory, as Jared Goff was once again firing on all cylinders as a valid MVP alternative to Mahomes. Sans Cooper Kupp, Goff used a variety of pass-catchers to fill the void left by his No. 2 receiver, with wideout Josh Reynolds and tight ends Tyler Higbee and Gerald Everett picking up the lost production – and then some.

The Rams offense won’t always score 50, but they’re good for 30+; hence why a few of their skill position players are worth targeting on waivers in fantasy football this week.

Elsewhere, weekly waiver pick-up Tre’Quan Smith finally rewarded fantasy owners, as the New Orleans Saints No. 2 option blew up for 30+ fantasy points. DJ Moore was almost as brilliant, and Chris Conley had himself a big day in Sammy Watkins’s absence.

Here are 10 players fantasy owners should target on waiver wires this week, with several of the aforementioned wide receivers finding themselves on the list – perhaps not even for the first time in the 2018 season.

Los Angeles Rams TE Gerald Everett

While Tyler Higbee had more targets and overall production in the Los Angeles Rams Week 11 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, it was Gerald Everett who bagged the most fantasy points. Everett hauled in two touchdown receptions on just four targets, finishing with 49 yards on three receptions.

In that sense, Everett seems like a riskier play going forward than Higbee, because Higbee is the starting tight end. However, Sean McVay seems to like to dial up passing plays to Everett in the red zone, and because of the disparity in touchdown potential, Everett might actually be the higher-floor play than Higbee for the remainder of the Rams 2018 campaign.

Everett has three touchdowns in the Rams last two games, suggesting an emerging role in the offense as a red zone threat. Goff can hit up pretty much anyone – whether it’s Josh Reynolds, Brandin Cooks, or even backup running back Malcolm Brown – for a touchdown pass, but it seems like Everett will be his weapon of choice.

While Higbee may not be available in some fantasy leagues, Everett is likely on waivers and will be snapped up quickly following his two-touchdown display against Kansas City. Despite never catching more than three passes in a game this season, he’s worth targeting for the touchdowns alone, especially for lower-seeded fantasy teams that could use a possible breakout, two-touchdown performance from a tight end in the fantasy playoffs.
