NBA Power Rankings: How far will the Warriors fall?
By Ian Levy
With Russell Westbrook out of the lineup, Paul George stepped up and has carried the Thunder with a litany of career-best numbers — including points, rebounds, assists, steals and 3-pointers per game. So far, in the 344 minutes George has been on the floor without Westbrook, the Thunder have been outscoring opponents by an average of 10.1 points per 100 possessions. Obviously, the Thunder are better off with both healthy and on the floor together but George’s explosion makes their status as a contender feel a bit less fragile.
In another exciting development for the Thunder, super-raw rookie Hamidou Diallo appears to be a bit more fully-cooked than expected. He’s been playing key minutes on the wing, scoring efficiently on transition dunks and cuts, and making an impact on defense with his energy and activity. Depth has looked like an issue for the Thunder but if he can contribute in the playoffs their fortunes could change dramatically.
