Screw point guards. Nikola Jokic is the new Nuggets point guard, and he now has two incredible two-way wings in Gary Harris paired with their new star Bradley Beal.

Positions don’t matter in basketball anymore. They probably haven’t for a few years now. Jokic is basically Denver’s point guard right now, with Harris and Jamal Murray flanked around the perimeter waiting for whatever magical pass the 7-foot ball-handler can whip up.

Why not double-down that and flip Murray for Beal?

Beal is basically like a leveled-up version of Harris. He’s a capable ball-handler that can absolutely shoot the lights out and lock down on the other end. Those players don’t become available very often.

Murray has struggled from deep this season, but there’s no doubting his potential as an elite deep threat. He dropped 48 points already this season and is 21 years old. Those guys also don’t become available very often. Washington also gets Mason Plumlee, a solid rotation big, and Trey Lyles, an intriguing floor-spacing 4, in the deal. Lydon and the second round pick are simply sweetener.

As of now, Washington has Goran Dragic and Jamal Murray in the backcourt with Hassan Whiteside, Mason Plumlee, and Trey Lyles forming their big man rotation.
