The Cowboys are poised to take advantage of Alex Smith’s injury in week 12. They represent the best NFL bet of the weekend by a wide margin.

Injuries are an unfortunate part of life in the NFL. No franchise can go through an entire campaign unscathed. Injuries at the quarterback position are particularly difficult for teams to deal with. On the bright side, it does provide a good opportunity for bettors this week.

Not all of our five suggestions this week are due to injury. This is actually a very enticing slate of games from a gambling perspective. We never encourage you to risk more than you can afford to lose, but there are five terrific opportunities to win big this week.

We start with a game that features one of the league’s hottest offenses. Playing at Denver is never easy, but the Steelers have momentum on their side.

5. Back the Steelers -3 at Denver

This is a simple wager based on which offense we like better. Ben Roethlisberger and this group of receivers just pose too many problems for the Broncos defense. Denver’s pass rush has the potential to cause Pittsburgh some problems, but Big Ben will put up big numbers in this one.

On the other side of the ball, we just can’t envision a scenario where Case Keenum and company compete in a shootout with the Steelers. They can only win a low scoring game. The Steelers haven’t exactly played many of those during their 2018 campaign.

This game will probably stay close for a half, but the Steelers are going to take over during the fourth quarter. Three points isn’t close to enough for us to consider backing the Broncos. You can feel great about taking the Steelers if you want to leave the line alone. This is also one you can push to 6.5 or so if you really want to make a big play. When in doubt, back the offensive firepower of the Steelers.
