Joe Montana Division

4. Jared Goff (LW: 4)

Goff is coming off his bye week with a chance to shred the Lions, who just finished losing on Thanskgiving Day to Chase Daniel. Goff has been awesome this season, throwing for a league-high 9.31 yards per attempt (excluding the part-time Ryan Fitzpatrick). The Rams will need Goff to be great in order to wrestle away home-field advantage from the Saints.

3. Tom Brady (LW: 3)

Brady has not enjoyed one of his best years, and yet he remains third for a few reasons. For starters, he’s 41 years old and playing with a rag-tag group. Second, the Patriots are 8-3 and there’s no argument against the fact that without him, the Dolphins are winning the division. Imagine living in that world.

2. Patrick Mahomes (LW: 2)

Mahomes is clearly going to be the next great quarterback in the league, if he isn’t already. The Chiefs are rolling to the status of AFC favorite, and Mahomes is the main reason why with a league-best 37 touchdown passes to accompany 3,628 passing yards. He’s also averaging 9.28 yards per attempt (second-highest) and completing 67.5 percent of his throws.

1. Drew Brees (LW: 1)

Brees has to be the MVP through 12 weeks. The Saints haven’t lost since the first week of the season, Brees is completing 76 percent of his throws while netting 8.81 yards per attempt. And, oh yeah, he has 29 touchdowns and only two interceptions. Unreal.
