Some big upsets should lead to dramatic changes in the AP Top 25.

The college basketball season took a back seat to college football this week as the gridiron featured championship week and the reveal of the College Football Playoff field.

That doesn’t mean college basketball took a break, though. The 2018-19 season is trucking right along and we are starting to get some March Madness-feel type of games.

Week 4 brought college basketball fans the Big Ten/ACC Challenge which featured matchups such as Michigan vs. North Carolina, Duke vs. Indiana, Michigan State vs. Louisville, Purdue vs. Florida State, Maryland vs. Virginia, Ohio State vs. Syracuse and Maryland vs. Virginia. These all had rankings implications as at least one, in most cases both, teams were ranked in the AP Top 25.

The biggest winner of this challenge and potentially of the week in college basketball? The Michigan Wolverines. John Beilein’s teams don’t usually come together until NCAA Tournament time, but Michigan is playing as well as anyone in the country, beating North Carolina by 17 and then following that up with a Big Ten-opening victory over Purdue by 19.

Duke was also a big winner and the Blue Devils could see a slight bump in this week’s rankings after beating Indiana by 21 points and then finishing the weekend with a 64-point victory over Stetson.

Here’s what the AP Top 25 could, and should, look like on Monday afternoon.
