Gregg Popovich stays the best ever

San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich may not be having much success on the court, but off it, he’s still very much winning the race of life.
One can excuse San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich for being a bit ornery this season.
His Spurs sit below .500 and possess one of the worst defenses possibly of all-time. This level of production, or lack thereof, isn’t what Popovich is used to, and he’s trying everything he can to fix this mess of a situation San Antonio is in right now.
However, off the court, Popovich is a San Antonio legend, and he has shown, once again, why he’s one of the best human beings in the NBA.
According to the San Antonio Express-News, Popovich will pay a visit to Pershing Elementary school on Dec. 10 to deliver new shoes to every student at the school.
The donated shoes were made possible by Shows That Fit, a nonprofit based out of Southern California which assisted Popovich in selecting the pair of sneakers after each kid was measured. Pershing Elementary sits on San Antonio’s East Side, which has long been one of the city’s more economically distressed areas.
According to the Express-News, more than 95 percent of the kids who attend the school come from economically disadvantaged families. Popovich has long been a pillar in the San Antonio community, and doing this for the kids at Pershing Elementary is something that warmed his heart.
“You go to a school and you see those little kids going crazy over a new pair of gym shoes, you’ll know why it’s important,” Popovich told the Express-News.
In a news world where bad stories often take center stage, it’s always awesome to report on good news stories, and Popovich once again came through in the clutch for his city.
