NBA Draftkings Lock Plays 12/12 – Pay Up for Russ?

Russell Westbrook vs. New Orleans Pelicans

Salary: $10,900

To start this off, I rarely ever target high-priced position players but the match-up has to be perfect. Russell Westbrook has that match-up tonight against the New Orleans Pelicans. Westbrook comes in with a usage rate of 31% and is currently averaging a triple double on the season. He is at 22 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assist which just keeps confirming that he is a triple double machine. Now he has only returned value in three of his last five games where he scored 51.25, 37, 71.75, 73.25, and 45.24 fantasy points. Westbrook is also averaging 33 minutes per game which means at any given moment, the man can go off. He does get to face the Pelicans who he has ownership on with a nice history.

In 35 games against the New Orleans Pelicans, Westbrook is averaging 24 points, 8 assist and 6 rebounds. On the defensive side of things, the Pelicans are allowing point guards to average 24 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assist. The exact same stat line that Westbrook averages against them. More positive signs to lock Westbrook in. The final positive sign is that this game holds a 232 points total due to both teams playing at a pace of 106 possessions per game. Everything just looks like the perfect match for Russell Westbrook.

NBA Draftkings Lock Plays -Shooting Guard

Tim Hardaway Jr. vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

Salary: $6,800

There is only one person at FantasyCPR that will tell you that Tim Hardaway Jr. is a lock play every single night even when the New York Knicks don’t play and even on a NFL Slate. But not tonight, I’m even on Tim Hardaway Jr. who has a nice match-up against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Hardaway Jr. has a usage rate of 27% and is probably the only Knick that we know will play majority of the game. Hardaway Jr. is averaging 33 minutes per game alongside with 21 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assist per game so far this season. Hardaway Jr. is allowed to chuck up whatever type of shots he wants and if he starts rolling, he’s the guy to lock in. He is also averaging 32 fantasy points per game and in his last five games, he has scored 38, 25, 29.75, 13.25, and 34 fantasy points. But if the Knicks do get flustered, Hardaway Jr. may receive some bench time which we hope doesn’t happen.

On the defense side of things, the Cleveland Cavaliers are allowing shooting guards to average 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assist per game. Another stat line that goes with our lock play. But once again the lack of pace by the Cavaliers does come in to play as they are still averaging 99 possessions per game while the Knicks averaging 104 possessions. The Cavaliers are also without Tristan Thompson which brings their value down even more and could spell for a blowout tonight. We’re hoping that isn’t the case and Hardaway Jr. can get his shot to fall, helping him dominate and continue his roll of exceeding value. Also, we don’t need him to break @2lockSports heart mid-week. Please Tim Hardaway Jr., sincerely the FantasyCPR team.

NBA Draftkings Lock Plays – Small Forward

Kawhi Leonard vs. Golden State Warriors

Salary: $9,400

Kawhi Leonard may have ruined some lines yesterday with his late “hip injury” scratch but that just makes us all the more excited to build a line up with him tonight. Now Toronto has been very cautious with Leonard this season and not allowing him to play in back to back games but that just means that he should be good to go tonight and versus a very healthy Golden State Warriors team. Kawhi Leonard has a usage rate of 29% this season while averaging 35 minutes per game. He is also almost averaging a double double with 26 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assist. Toronto made the big move by sending DeMar Derozan to San Antonio for Kawhi Leonard which has shown that it was the right move. Now Kawhi hasn’t had the best history while facing the Golden State Warriors but with a new team and a monster momentum, this match-up should be a good one for him.

Kawhi Leonard has faced the Golden State Warriors 19 times in his career and is averaging 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assist per game. Nothing compared to his regular season stat line. The Warriors do allow small forwards to average 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assist this season which is more like Kawhi’s stat-line. Another upside to this match-up besides the possible finals match-up is that both teams play at a pace of 104 possessions per game which means that we can be in for a shoot out. While we do know what Kawhi Leonard can do against any team and the Warriors, we still have to be cautious and watch for injury news. While he was out last night due to a hip injury, it was most likely to have him ready for tonight. But in any case, we have this one as the late game which means we may not hear news until the games tip-off. Just be very careful when it comes to building a line with Leonard.

NBA Draftkings Lock Plays – Which Big Man to Build Around?

Larry Nance Jr. vs. New York Knicks

Salary: $5,700

The Cleveland Cavaliers are being hit by injuries left and right like their season isn’t already horrible. Their King left them, then Kevin Love went out with an injury, and then Tristan Thompson came in while having his career best year but now also hit by the injury bug. Next up? Larry Nance Jr. Larry Nance Jr. is at a great, valued price of $5,700 and gets to face the New York Knicks. But mixing all of the injuries with his salary price and his match-up, he’ll most likely be on the chalkier side. That isn’t a bad thing.

More from FanSided

Nance Jr. is coming into tonight with a usage rate of 14% and is averaging just 23 minutes per game but we expect that all to change with what has been previous stated. He is currently averaging 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assist per game. In his previous five games, he has scored 25, 27.5, 19.25, 36.75, and 31.75 fantasy points. He’s easily exceeding his value. Now as a starter, it should be way to easy for him to do so if he gets starter minutes and not his usual 23 minutes.

The New York Knicks are allowing Power Forwards to average 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assist which equals a double double or as I like to say, extra points! Now we already know that the pace of the game will be on the slower end as the Cavaliers average just 99 possessions per game and the New York Knicks average 104 possessions per game. The Cavaliers will most likely be playing catch up or trying to keep the game close and if so, expect Larry Nance Jr. to dominate in his new temporary role. So due to his price tag, the bump in usage rate, and his match-up with the New York Knicks, Larry Nance Jr. gets his “lock play” tag also.
