Liverpool take on Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday, Dec. 16. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

One of the fiercest rivalries in all of soccer will see another chapter written on Sunday when Manchester United visit Liverpool at Anfield. The stars will be out on both sides, as usual, but the current places in the table for both teams suggest that there is a wider talent gap between them than in most years.

Manchester United have had a tumultuous season to say the least, and they currently sit in sixth place in the league. At times, the Red Devils have looked dominant, and world class players like Paul Pogba and David de Gea have lived up to their names. At other times, United have looked pedestrian and sloppy, seeming to lack focus and dropping points as a result.

The ongoing drama surrounding United’s manager, Jose Mourinho, has not ceased. Each game seems to be another fight for his job, and many believe that he could be fired at the drop of a hat. A win on Sunday would go a long way towards keeping Mourinho there through the end of the season, but as is the case with many aspects of this team, nothing is certain.

Things have been completely different for Liverpool this season. They’ve managed to carry their momentum from the latter part of last season into the new campaign and are flying high. They sit atop the league table after Manchester City’s surprise loss to Chelsea last week, and are in firm control of their place in the league.

The usual suspects are firing on all cylinders, with Mo Salah jointly leading the Premier League in goals alongside Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are second and third on the team in goals, respectively. If there were any questions surrounding Liverpool’s attacking trio and their ability to replicate their play from last season, those doubts have surely been put to rest.

Liverpool have yet to suffer a defeat this season, and with their current form, one may expect that to continue this Sunday at Anfield. The Reds will likely relish the opportunity to embarrass a rival at their home ground, but complacency could be their downfall. United still have one of the most talented teams in the league, despite their place in the table. They have the ability to beat any given team on any given day, and that team may just be Liverpool if they aren’t careful.
