Is Modern Family new tonight, December 19?

Modern Family doesn’t return yet this week after Haley’s revelation to the Dunphy family but in bigger real life news season 11 might happen after all.

According to Deadline, series stars Ed O’Neill, Sofia Vergara, Eric Stonestreet, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Julie Bowen, and Ty Burrell are close to deals with 20th Century Fox TV to reprise their roles on a season 11 of Modern Family. A season that would reportedly consist potentially of eighteen episodes. That means Modern Family’s final conclusion will evade fans for at least another season, and though season 11 will likely be the last, things can always go back up in the air for a season 12. Season 10 hasn’t concluded yet and has 22 episodes in the mix, and just finished airing its tenth episode recently.

The question is: Will there be a potential time jump going into season 11 with Haley’s baby? Since Haley is currently pregnant, will they maintain the pregnancy throughout the course of the two seasons with an eventual birth in the series finale? Or have Haley and Dylan raise the child in season 11 more akin to Last Man Standing’s Kristin Baxter? There seems to be a lot of television pregnancies lately as a centerpiece plot line, just look at The Conners with Becky’s recent pregnancy. It seems strange that there hasn’t really been too much question if Haley’s child is 100 percent Dylan’s considering she was with Arvin just prior. Will this be a narrative of a later episode where Arvin returns back to be the ‘father’ to his child or never be mentioned again?

Meanwhile, it appears lately that Cam and Mitchell have pretty much adopted Cal recently (his sister’s son). Almost like the show wanted them to have another child in the house unofficially, is it in case Lily departs the show at some point for college in the future? Some type of insurance policy? Considering the show might only air for another season it seems unlikely. It has a bit of a ‘Seven’ vibe for those who remember the cousin on Married with Children.

Speaking of vibes, it feels like Gloria prefers Manny to Joe on the show in many ways. It’s pretty obvious Manny is the favorite. There should really be an episode exploring some kind of sibling rivalry in the future.
