The Minnesota Vikings were able to steal a lead into halftime off of a wild Hail Mary against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

The Detroit Lions seemed to be cursed or something when it comes to giving up Hail Mary touchdowns at Ford Field. The Green Bay Packers did it a couple of years ago to keep their playoff hopes alive, and another NFC North rival did it to them on Sunday.

With time winding down in the first half on Sunday, Kirk Cousins threw up a prayer and somehow found Kyle Rudolph in the end zone for a touchdown. It was actually the second touchdown the Vikings were able to score in the final 92 seconds of the first half, with the other coming on a pass from Cousins to Stefon Diggs. The Lions went three-and-out between those two scores, only killing 56 seconds.

You can watch a video of the play below.

The touchdown helped the Vikings take a 14-9 lead into the locker room at halftime. Needless to say, Lions fans were not pleased with the effort. The Lions went from shutting down their divisional rival and winning 9-0 to giving up back-to-back touchdowns and completely collapsing.

Plenty of people watching were frustrated no one tried to bat the Hail Mary attempt down, but regardless, the Vikings still scored and Lions fans were still livid.

It’s been a season to forget for the Lions and their new head coach Matt Patricia. They’re hoping that they can reload this offseason, find their identity and make some more noise in the NFC North than they did this season.
