Syracuse and West Virginia will meet for the 61st time in Orlando, Florida to play in the Camping World Bowl. Here is everything you need to know.

Although the Ben Schwartzwalder Trophy will not be up for grabs, No. 16 West Virginia and No. 20 Syracuse will both play with some extra grit when they take the field in Orlando, FL.

Each school will deploy an up-tempo offensive attack, with both ranking inside the top-15 in total offense and points per game, so expect this to be one of the highest-scoring bowl games of the year.

West Virginia opened as a seven-point favorite, but when star quarterback Will Grier and All-Big 12 offensive tackle Yodny Cajuste decided to skip the game to focus on the NFL Draft, the Mountaineers quickly became the underdog. To make matters worse, senior wide receiver Gary Jennings, who leads the team in receiving yards, will be forced to miss the game with an ankle injury.

There is no denying how much of a blow this is for the West Virginia offense, but former 4-star quarterback Jack Allyson will look to make a name for himself going into the 2019 season. Allyson will still have plenty of weapons at his disposal, which includes All-Big 12 wide receiver David Sills IV and a stable of talented running backs. However, the West Virginia offense will likely have its ups and downs against the Orange, so a big day on the defensive side of the ball will be needed to get a victory.

Syracuse is led by quarterback Eric Dungey, who has thrown for 2,565 yards and 17 touchdowns, while also leading the team in rushing with 732 yards. Dungey is one of the most dynamic dual-threat quarterbacks in the country, which doesn’t bode well for a West Virginia defense that hasn’t slowed down a dual-threat quarterback to date. While it’s no surprise that Kyler Murray ran all over the Mountaineers, against Oklahoma State Taylor Cornelius even racked up over 100 yards on the ground.

If West Virginia doesn’t find a way to contain Dungey, he could easily put on one of the best performances this bowl season.

Syracuse leads the series with an all-time record of 33-27 and has won the last three meetings between the two schools.

Whether you’re a die-hard fan or a casual bystander, this game could be one of the most entertaining games bowl games this year. Here is everything you need to know to catch the game.

Prediction

Without Will Grier, the Mountaineers are hard to predict on offense and will assuredly not be as dominate as we have seen all season. Syracuse has put up points all year, which won’t change against this weak West Virginia defense.

Final Score: Syracuse 44, WVU 35
