The powerful Milwaukee Bucks will begin the New Year with a four-game homestand, starting with a date against the struggling Detroit Pistons.
The Milwaukee Bucks are hoping that 2019 will be just as great to them as 2018 was, and they’ll have a fantastic opportunity to get the New Year off on the right note when they entertain the struggling Detroit Pistons to open a four-game homestand.
Many pegged Milwaukee (25-10) as one of the favorites for the Eastern Conference crown this season, and they haven’t disappointed. Led by superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, the powerful Bucks ended 2018 with three-straight blowout victories and winners of eight of their last 10 games, with their latest being a 129-115 home victory against the Brooklyn Nets on Dec. 29.
Now, heading into 2019, the Bucks are looking to establish themselves as the team to beat in the East, and this four-game homestand will go a long way to begin the process of separating themselves from the rest of the pack.
Milwaukee has been dominant at home, raking up a 16-3 record in their brand new domain, the Fiserv Forum, and this is not a good thing for a Piston team (16-18) who struggled mightily to end 2018.
Before the season, many thought that the Pistons would be improved, but their now mired in a 2-8 stretch, with their latest loss being a backbreaking 109-107 loss to the Orlando Magic. Detroit currently sits eight in the conference, but with the Nets, Magic, and Washington Wizards, not to mention the improving Atlanta Hawks, making up ground, the time is now for the Pistons to start winning again.
That’s going to be hard to do on New Year’s Day against the Bucks, who have won the first two of a four-game season series against Detroit, a blowout win in Milwaukee on Dec. 5 (115-92), and a close victory for the Bucks in Detroit on Dec. 17 (107-104).
