The Ohio State Buckeyes will take on the Washington Huskies in the 2019 Rose Bowl, Urban Meyer’s final game at the helm of the program.
There are certainly plenty of Ohio State Buckeyes fans that believe their team should be in the College Football Playoff. Instead, however, they’ll be in Pasadena on Tuesday taking on the Washington Huskies in the 2019 Rose Bowl.
Ohio State certainly had some struggles in the middle of the season, falling handily to Purdue and struggling with the likes of Nebraska and Maryland. What hasn’t changed is their prolific offense, though. Quarterback Dwayne Haskins tore through the Buckeyes record books this season and doesn’t look to stop. What needs to step up a bit, however, is the OSU defense in Urban Meyer’s final game of his career in Columbus.
That’s not a concern for this Washington team. The Huskies were able to win the Pac-12 Championship based on the merits of their defense. They hope that they can do that again, especially slowing down Haskins with a secondary that features Byron Murphy and Taylor Rapp.

Ultimately, though, the Washington offense needs to take advantage of the Ohio State defense. Jake Browning and Myles Gaskin have been wildly inconsistent, but if they can show up, this will be a fun one at the Rose Bowl.

Given the way that Ohio State finished the regular season and the Big Ten Championship Game, you’d have to say they’re the favorites here. However, it will be intriguing to see if the stout Washington defense is able to slow down Haskins and the high-powered Buckeyes offense. As such, this is a fun Rose Bowl matchup.
