FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy basketball lineup – January 2, 2019
High Salary PG
Players costing over $6,667
Russell Westbrook (at LAL – $12,000): Needs 51.3 fantasy points. Westbrook was up to 68.7 fantasy points against the Mavericks on Dec. 31. Numbers are rarely an issue for him, it’s just a matter of shots falling. When he’s attacking, he’s nearly unstoppable in getting DFS numbers. My guess is that he attacks in this game because he wants to prove PG made the right decision in not going to LA. This just feels like a big Russ game. Diagnosis: Very high ceiling, but inconsistent due to shooting woes.
Kemba Walker (vs DAL – $9,400): Needs 40.2 fantasy points. Walker was down to 35.1 fantasy points in 27 minutes against the Magic on Dec. 31. It was a blowout, so not much you can do there. This one should be more competitive and the Mavericks are not good on the road. Which means Walker should be in for a big scoring night. Diagnosis: Reliable with a very high ceiling.
Trae Young (at WAS – $7,100): Needs 30.3 fantasy points. Trae has been reliable during this recent stretch and it’s nice to see the rookie settle into his role. If his shot starts to fall, his ceiling increases, but he’s finding other ways to score and the assists are typically there for him. Most importantly, it’s the Wizards. He should produce good numbers against them. Diagnosis: Great matchup and reliable at the moment. But I’m always wary of rookies.
