NBA Power Rankings: Highs and lows for the Toronto Raptors
By Ian Levy
The Indiana Pacers have continued to surge, thriving during a stretch without Victor Oladipo and then working him back into the lineup without missing a beat. They are 13-3 going back to Dec. 4 and have secured wins over Milwaukee and Philadelphia in that stretch, although they dropped both games to the Raptors. Their roster is deep, their defense is terrific and they’ve found a way to navigate around an over-reliance on Oladpo’s ability to create offense in the halfcourt.
However, their mark does feel a bit more fragile than some of the other contenders in the East. Their defensive numbers have benefited from some shaky shooting by their opponents and a lot of their offensive strength is predicated on career years from Bogdan Bogdanovic and the sudden emergence of Myles Turner and Domantas Sabonis. Everything is clicking right now, but they’ll need to carry this good fortune into the playoffs if they’re really going to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.
