Nothing ever changes with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick

Everything consistently changes around Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, except for them stringing together playoff runs every year.

There is still life in the New England Patriots dynasty.

It might come to an end next week when they play the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead Stadium. But after the way New England manhandled the Los Angeles Chargers at home in the Divisional round, you can be sure that Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and the Patriots will take it to the Chiefs with everything they have.

Despite the 2018 Patriots being considered one of the worst New England teams Belichick has coached, the results are still the same as always: an AFC East division title, a first-round bye, and an appearance in the AFC Championship Game for the eighth straight year.

Once again, the Patriots are a win away from the Super Bowl, which at this point has been a phrase uttered annually.

The scenery consistently changes for the Patriots, but Belichick and Brady make sure that the results never do. Their 41-28 victory over the Chargers on Sunday was just the latest piece of evidence. Though it was merely a 13-point game, it was never really that close.

The Pats made easy work of the Chargers, but against the Chiefs at Arrowhead next weekend, it will be a different story. Kansas City possesses the most high-powered offense in football, led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and they showed once again how dangerous they are with a 31-13 win over the Colts on Saturday.

But Brady and the Patriots proved that they are still as hungry as ever, and when it comes right down to it, they can get the job done. Even if Kansas City’s dynamic offense is too much for Belichick’s defense to handle, Brady will still find a way to ensure that the Patriots are never out of the game. He’ll utilize Julian Edelman and James White, and occasionally Philip Dorsett, in the passing game. He’ll give the ball to rookie Sony Michel and let him pound it down Kansas City’s throat.

With eight Super Bowl appearances and five rings, Brady and Belichick are the greatest quarterback-coach duo in the history of football. Despite advancing age and a crumbling roster, they are now 60 minutes from making a ninth showing on Super Sunday.

An old saying is that to be the man, you’ve got to beat the man. That will be the case for the Chiefs next week. To reach their first Super Bowl in nearly 50 years, they will have to find a way to vanquish Brady and Belichick.
