2019 NFL Draft: 5 NFL teams that should draft Kyler Murray
By Joe Romano
New York Giants
Another team that has a big question to answer at quarterback is the New York Giants. While Eli Manning was not completely terrible this past season, the writing is on the wall. The two-time Super Bowl champion does not have many years left and that may be being generous.
Manning was not the sole reason for the Giants’ struggles this season, but he did not help matters.
New York has been steadfast on the thought that Manning will return for next season. If they change their minds, or decide to invest in the future now, Murray is a great choice.
The Giants own the sixth pick in the 2019 NFL draft. Should there be no trades, and Oakland pass on a quarterback, they hold the cards for the most valuable position in the sport. This is the same team that was in a similar position a year ago.
After watching what could be a historic quarterback class in 2018 pass them by, the Giants need to think about life after Manning. Saquon Barkley looks every part of the generational talent he was billed to be. Pair him with Odell Beckham and there the makings of an elite offense.
Even the complimentary weapons of Evan Engram and Sterling Shepherd are solid.
Murray would come in with a chance to light the league on fire. Look at the pieces that Kansas City is able to surround fellow former baseball player Patrick Mahomes with. Murray is no Mahomes and he will need some help at the next level.
A quarterback friendly scheme, like that run by Giants coach Pat Shurmur, would be a great fit.
