The officials robbed the Saints with one of the worst non-calls ever, and New Orleans have shared their disgust on Twitter.
Fans of the New Orleans Saints are, understandably, furious with the NFL referees who officiated Sunday’s NFC Championship Game.
As the Saints were driving in the red zone on third down and trying to put the Los Angeles Rams away for good, the referees missed an excruciatingly obvious pass interference call. As Drew Brees sailed a pass toward Tommylee Lewis, he was absolutely clobbered in midair by Nickell Robey-Coleman — all while the ball was still roughly five feet away from him.
It should’ve been an immediate pass interference penalty resulting in a first down for New Orleans, which would have all but clinched the victory. Instead it brought up fourth down, Wil Lutz kicked a field goal for a 23-20 Saints lead, and the Rams responded with a field goal drive of their own to send the game to overtime.
It was an atrocious non-call by the referees — possibly the worst of all time — and NFL officiating looks worse than ever today.
As expected, Saints fans are very unhappy on Twitter…

There should be a fine for crooked officiating.

Needless to say, this is a play that will be talked about for quite some time in the Big Easy and beyond.
