The Pac-12 might be struggling on the court, but not in recruiting. The updated college basketball recruiting rankings sees three Pac-12 teams in the top eight.

College basketball is able to have a significant amount larger amount of parity than college football. It’s easier to go out and find three-five recruits talented enough to make an impact on the game each and every year than it is to find 15-25 recruits attempting to do the same.

That doesn’t mean that there aren’t blue bloods who dominate the sport. That sort of statement wouldn’t be true at all. And, well, it is certainly still difficult to recruit against and compete for titles against those sort of elite and dominant programs.

This year, in the realm of college recruiting, the best classes belong to some truly elite programs. The top 10 is loaded with teams that dominate this game. And so, as January is getting close to being done, let’s look at which teams currently own the best recruiting classes in the country.

All rankings according to 247Sports.

  1. Arizona– The Arizona Wildcats sit at the top of 247Sports’ rankings at the moment. Theoretically, Arizona could be dethroned if someone decommits or USC or others land some big-time recruits.
  2. USC– Coming in at No. 2 here is Southern Cal. USC boasts a star-studded class that only has one commit left to sign. The Trojans, more than likely, are probably set right around here.
  3. Villanova– Right behind the two Pac-12 teams at the top of the rankings sits the Villanova Wildcats. Every single member of Villanova’s class is currently signed. It would take something shocking to move the Wildcats up or down here.
  4. Gonzaga– Although the Gonzaga Bulldogs don’t have the top-ranked college basketball recruiting class on the west coast, they do currently have the top-ranked recruiting class in the West Coast Conference. That counts for something, right?
  5. Louisville– At the moment, the Louisville Cardinals are the highest ranked ACC team. That tops Duke, somewhat surprisingly.
  6. Duke– Mike Krzyzewski and the Duke Blue Devils are still working to sign Vernon Carey. Carey is committed to Duke. According to his recruiting profile, Michigan State and Miami are both still in play here.
  7. Kentucky– John Calipari is trying to get Kahlil Whitney, the best small forward in the country, to sign his letter of intent to go to Lexington. It looks like Whitney will wind up with Kentucky, but Georgetown still has something of a chance to land him.
  8. Oregon– The Pac-12 is doing insanely well in this college basketball recruiting class. The Oregon Ducks have the third-highest rated recruiting class at the moment and they’re still trying to convince one more commit to go ahead and sign with them. Oh, and the Ducks are in play for the third-highest rated recruit in the country. Cole Anthony could shake this list up a bit.
  9. FloridaThe Florida Gators have the second-highest recruiting class in the SEC at the moment and, more than likely, it looks like they’ve probably got their class fully assembled.
  10. Ohio State– At the moment, the Ohio State Buckeyes boast the highest rated Big 10 recruiting class. While there’s still some top recruits out there, Ohio State probably won’t be getting any. It looks like the Buckeyes are pretty happy with their class.

Next. Crazy to think Duke’s Zion Williamson would shut it down for NBA Draft. dark
