2019 NFL mock draft: Jaguars get Kyler Murray
By Brad Weiss
The New York Giants hold the No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, and with that pick, they need to address the elephant in the room. The bottom line is, Eli Manning is not going to be the Giants quarterback forever, and the fact that they do not have a succession plan in place is pretty scary.
Back when Manning was a rookie, the Giants had Kurt Warner under center, and that enabled the team to bring him into the starting lineup when he was ready. If the Giants want to be smart, they will draft a quarterback with their first round pick in 2019, then allow Manning back for one more season while the kid gets ready.
The best quarterback prospect in this draft class is Dwayne Haskins, who is fresh off throwing 50 touchdown passes for the Ohio State Buckeyes this past season. Haskins has everything you look for in an NFL quarterback, as he has a tremendous arm, is very smart, and has the size that will grade very well at the NFL Scouting Combine.
New York has some elite talent on offense, including guys like Odell Beckham Jr., and Saquon Barkley. Manning did not put up bad numbers last season and may have another year left in his right arm, but it is time for this organization to start thinking about what life is going to look like when he is finally done.
