It doesn’t get much better than watching two brothers face off in the 3-point shootout, as Stephen and Seth Curry will do this year.

With no disrespect to the Slam Dunk Contest, or any of the other intriguing festivities that take place during NBA All-Star Weekend, the 3-point contest may be the very best event of the entire weekend. It doesn’t get much better than watching a series of determined sharpshooters gunning it out in one of the most competitive events the NBA puts on.

So then, how do we make the 3-point contest even more fascinating? By adding a little dash of sibling rivalry to the mix.

This year’s event will include a showdown between brothers Stephen and Seth Curry. To make it even more intriguing, the 2019 NBA All-Star festivities will be taking place in their hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina, where their father Dell Curry used to play professionally for the Charlotte Hornets.

It was initially announced that Seth, currently with the Portland Trail Blazers, would be participating in the event. A few days later, it was then announced that his older brother, Stephen, of the Golden State Warriors would be joining him. An interesting storyline heading toward All-Star Weekend is that Stephen is currently second in the NBA in 3-pointers made (behind only James Harden) with 191, while Seth is second in the NBA in 3-point percentage at 48 percent.

While the 3-point contest is a competitive event, it’s also simply about having fun for the participants, and Stephen is looking forward to some friendly competition with his younger brother in their hometown.

“Just being in Charlotte, there’s a nice storyline,” Stephen said on the Woj Pod, via ESPN.com. “[Seth] was leading the league in percentage for a while. In terms of family history, my dad playing 10 years in Charlotte; being one of the original Hornets to now having the All-Star Game in Charlotte.

“The 3-point shootout will be fun with the Curry brothers. I know he’s going to be gunning for me though. That’s the problem.”

This will be Seth’s first time participating in the 3-point contest. Stephen is a five-time participant, and he won the event in 2015.

As per usual, the Slam Dunk Contest will be an excellent way to wrap up All-Star Saturday night. But with the Curry brothers officially going head-to-head, the 3-point contest should once again steal the show.
