NBA Trade Deadline 2019: One trade every team should make
By Daniel Lewis
The Pacers suffered a tragedy this week with their All-Star guard Victor Oladipo injuring his knee. The injury will keep him out for the remainder of the season, which will land a solid blow to their playoff chances. That doesn’t mean that they won’t make the playoffs in the weaker Eastern Conference, but the injury to Oladipo takes a scrappy young team that could have made noise in the playoffs and turns them into a team that will likely take a superior team to seven games before running out of gas.
Daniels is an experienced shooter that the Pacers can bring off the bench, filling the void that will likely be created by moving Tyreke Evans into the starting lineup. With Cory Joseph and Doug McDermott, the reserves would have enough spacing to allow Domantas Sabonis to abuse interior defenders near the rim while giving him knockdown shooters to kick the ball out to.
For the Suns, this is a chance to find another point guard as they try to plug in different guards and see if they’ll work in Kokoškov’s system. They’ve tried their hand with DeAnthony Melton, Elie Okobo, and now this trade would give them a chance to try out the latest Holiday guard.
