The reigning dynasty in the NFL will be playing on Super Sunday for the third straight year. How can the New England Patriots win a sixth Lombardi Trophy?

The New England Patriots are headed to their ninth Super Bowl in 18 seasons dating back to 2001. The franchise has captured five titles. On February 3, Bill Belichick’s squad will attempt to become the first team since the 1972 Miami Dolphins (Super Bowl VII) to win back the title after losing the “Big Game” the previous year. Hence, here are five things to consider is the Pats are to capture a sixth NFL championship.

5. Rely on recent Super Bowl experience

It certainly wasn’t a factor in last year’s Super Bowl as the Philadelphia Eagles went toe-to-toe with the New England Patriots early in the game, owning a 9-3 first-quarter lead and a 22-12 edge at halftime. So any thoughts when it came to Super Bowl jitters for the Birds were quickly erased. But will we see the same thing in Atlanta on February 3 when it comes to the Los Angeles Rams? The franchise is making its first Super Bowl appearance since 2001 (XXXVI), when they fell to this same franchise at the Superdome, 20-17.

In terms of Super Bowl experience, the Pats have the advantage by a large margin given the fact that they are in the “Big Game” for the third consecutive year and fourth time in five seasons. Even with roster turnover, New England owns the edge here.

Of course, there’s also the fact that the Patriots have had their problems scoring points in the first quarter of these Super Bowls with Brady at the helm. So all of this may be a moot point. And it is worth noting that in two postseason games in ’18, the Rams have been outscored a combined 20-3 in the first 15 minutes of play and rallied for wins.
